Publishing and distributing with us

Do you want us to distribute your book or want us fulfill a crowdfunding project for you? That is possible! Please read all information on this page to get started and know everything there is to know! TTRPGs can vary wildly in sizes and scope, and the presented prices may vary. If the information you seek is not on this page, please contact us anyway. We also have knowledge on running Crowdfunding campaigns, editing books, and translation (FR-EN).

Use the "Contact Us" section or send an e-mail directly at wendigo.workshop.hr@gmail.com to get started. You can also check THIS doc!

WHY BE DISTRIBUTED HERE?

We wish to be a place where creators can freely display their work and receive proper compensation for their hard work.

  • Digital products: Creators featuring their digital products are paid 80% of cover price for PDF sales.

  • Physical products: Creators featuring their physical products are paid 70% of cover price for physical sales. When we are low on stock, we will send you a message for a possible restock or print rerun.

You retain all rights to your products and intellectual property while it is featured on our website. We accept projects in any language, but it must be available in French as per Quebec law 96 (if it is not, we offer to translate it for you). If your book needs to be translated, you are paid 40% of cover price for both digital and physical products on the translated product until the translation fees are repaid, after which they receive the usual rates mentioned above (work sold in the original language retains the usual rates).

As a queer-owned business, we know it is difficult for marginalized creators to get out there and make ends meet. If you are a marginalized creator, please say so in your messages, as we may have special rates for you on some services.

HOW TO BE DISTRIBUTED?

After contacting us, we will discuss with you to know all important information about your project. We will set up everything for you, and you don’t need to take care of anything! Your products will consistently be advertised on our social media platforms, and note that your product might be included in bundles and special site-wide sales.

For Digital products: Send us all required folders and files for us to set it up properly and allow customers to receive their item. If the file is too big, you can send them to us via a third party file sharing site such as Google Drive.

For Physical products, you have two options:

  1. If you already have your own books and wish to send us a few copies, you may mail them to us at our address, which we will send you in a message following your interest.

  2. You wish to perform a print run and have us take care of it? Send us your file and we will send you an estimate of the pricing for print. Take note that we can only make a minimum of 25 books at a time, so take this into consideration when asking for us to print for you (the most advantageous minimum amounts are 25 for softcovers and 100 for hardcovers)!
For an additional small fee (5$ per spread), we can set up your document for you to ensure the best possible quality of print (color correction, small adjustments, bleed, and margins).
Setting up a print run through us incurs a small fee of 50$ for the paperwork and setting up with the printer. Additional fees may apply depending on the scope of your project.

We use Canadian printers for all types of physical products, usually located in Quebec if it is possible. You do not need to be distributed via our website to set up a print project.

Note that we reserve the right to refuse products that are explicitly homophobic, transphobic, bigoted, or containing any other type of hate speech. We will automatically refuse any project that includes Generative AI. Your game must be in a finished or near-finished state to be featured on our website.

RECEIVE PAYMENTS

Our preferred method for payments is Paypal transfer, which will be sent to you once a month, on the fourth Wednesday. It is important for you to send us your Paypal handle so we can send you your payments. You will receive a Receipt for royalties each time, which you will need for tax purposes.

The Distributor (Wendigo Workshop) is responsible to send and exchange payments via Paypal (or other, chosen way) to The Creator (You), when required to do so. If The Distributor does not send the required royalty payments on the aforementioned date (fourth Wednesday of each month, or within 2 days of such date), The Distributor incurs a 1.5% interest fee, per day after the first unpaid one, which they must pay to The Creator. The Creator agrees to be fair on his end, and not lie upon unreceived payments or fees to voluntarily harm The Distributor.

If you wish to set up another type of payment, please mention it in your e-mail! Canadian creators can be set-up with e-transfer.

CROWDFUNDING FULFILLMENT AND PRINTING

You just finished a crowdfunding project or want to print your game and don’t know where to start? We can print and fulfill your project for you! Our small team of skilled individuals will make sure your orders reach your customers in a timely manner and in a perfect state (we even take care of damaged orders)!

Acknowledge the following section for our pricing and available services. Please note that all prices are in Canadian dollars, and most items are manufactured in Québec, Canada.

Available services: Books, prints, cards, zines, brochures, posters, clothes, miniatures. We can probably print other types of items, contact us with your ideas so we can check if it's something we can do!

We usually charge the following for all fulfillment/print orders:

  • The printing fee for your order (with 5% more items to account for possible misprints and broken/lost packages). An estimate will be sent to you as soon as we have the numbers.

  • The shipping fees + a 5% surcharge to account for packaging materials (boxes, paper, labels, etc.). You will have access to our special business shipping prices (currently between 2 and 45% depending on the destination and type of package).

  • 25$/hour for charging and discharging trucks, making labels, paperwork, etc. As an example, we usually charge about 1 hour for every 40 packages.

  • 2.50$ per package for handling and packaging your books, or 0.5c for handling and packaging small items (stickers, prints, etc). These fees may vary for especially large or delicate items.

  • On orders of more than 200 books, we charge a small storage fee of 20$, increased by 5$ for every 100 additional books.

Note that we can only make a minimum of 25 books at a time to save on printing costs, so take this into consideration when asking for us to print for you (the most advantageous minimum amounts are 25 for softcovers and 100 for hardcovers)!

DOES IT HAVE TO BE A TTRPG?

Well, not really. If you have fantasy books, artbooks, dice, or similar products, you can contact us and we will see if it is possible for us to feature it! Note that dice and other physical products that are not prints or books will have to be shipped to us to be featured in our store!

If you have 18+ projects, we can feature them in our shop, but you need to specify it when contacting us, as we have to place an age restriction.

RETAIL VS DISTRIBUTION VS PUBLISHING

We are a mix of retailer, distributor, and publisher. But what is the difference?

Retail copies are bought directly from the creator to compensate them for their hard work.

Publishing projects are projects that people submit to us to make them available in a printed format. We pay for the print run, but the Royalties are slightly lower to account for that (40% of cover price).

Distributed projects are projects that people send to us, in digital or physical format, to be featured in our shop. You take care of the printing cost if you want us to print for you, and we take care of everything else!

International Shipping

When fulfilling your project, we offer international shipping! It is important to note that the customer (the person who bought your project) is responsible for all VAT, taxes, or clearance charges. The customer (the person who bought your project) is solely responsible for understanding and complying with the import requirements of the destination country. Some countries are unavailable such as: BELARUS, HAITI, IRAN, KOREA NORTH DEM REP, LIBYA, RUSSIA, SOMALIA, SUDAN, SYRIA, WEST BANK AND GAZA STRIP, YEMEN.
